This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Although my students do not have the necessary materials to succeed, I am trying to close the achievement gap. After review of student grades and school-wide data there is indication that students with disabilities are the lowest performing at our school. Aside from having various disabilities my students also have many issues at home which has a huge effect on them as well.
The students in my class have many disabilities, many of them are reading far below grade level and have difficulty retaining information.
As a Special Education Teacher, I am responsible for providing excellent instruction to my students while taking into consideration their various learning styles.
My Project
Having these 2 chromebooks will allow different structures in my classroom. Working with special needs students it is important to differentiate learning materials based on the students' learning style. These chromebooks will be used during math centers, reading centers and allow for my students to do more research projects. The chromebooks will also allow for more independent, individualized instruction.
By donating to this project, you not only help to improve and increase student attention and focus, you will help increase their academic achievement.
My students will be more eager to participate in class as well as individual work during centers. Many of my students, often get frustrated and discouraged when they are having difficulty with a tasks. With the use of the chrome books I can tailor the learning material to the students's need and they can monitor their own progress. With the increase in self- monitoring their progress, class participation and active participation during learning centers my special needs students' academics will increase as well as their self esteem.
