Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are in the 6th – 8th grade, learning in a self-contained classroom for reading, writing, math, social skills, and daily living skills. All of my students qualify for free and reduced lunch and need varying levels of support to get through the school day.
My students are learning life skills and need hands-on materials to make great growth!
Many of my students have disabilities such as autism, intellectual disabilities, and other health impairments. They are eager to learn and increase in their skills.
My Project
My classroom is a self-contained life skills classroom for middle school students. All of the other life skills classrooms in my district have a washer and dryer for student use except mine. My classroom lacks the necessary vents to put in a normal washer/dryer combo.
My students come to school with clothes that desperately need cleaning!
I am requesting this all in one washer/dryer combo. The machine is ventless so it can be easily installed in my classroom. Laundry and clean clothes are an essential life need. Having this service available to my students will make a world of difference to them. Thank you for your consideration.
