Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

Our school strives to find the leader in all students even though we live in a very rural area of the black belt. Over half of my students receive free or reduced lunch BUT every child has capabilities, talents, and strengths; sometimes, all it takes is exposure or motivation. The students in my class and on my court strive for excellence. They all inherently care about one another and continually make an effort to improve in all aspects.

My classes and sports teams consist of some amazing students.

Of those students, I have English learners, resource students, athletes, band students, and many other types of students. They all have a think win-win attitude and do their personal best to contribute to our classroom and sports community.

My Project

The girls that I coach are very dedicated to a growing basketball program at HCHS! In the past year, we have had a lot of interest in our program and with extra interest, extra funds are required! We are in desperate need of new game balls to replace our old worn out ones.

Good game balls are expensive and with Dick's generous match we can maximize our donations!

So thankful that Dicks understands the need for good extracurricular programs and supports the funding of them. Students learn many life lessons through sports teams and they are actually just an extension of the classroom!
