"A room without books is like a body without a soul" -Cicero. The vision for my classroom this year is that all of our Kindergarteners feel confident in their ability to read books and to develop an understanding the power that reading holds.
My students are "Wise Owls" at a school which encourages them to be learners today and leaders tomorrow.
I want to make sure they have the tools necessary to succeed in their first year of school. A primary objective of our classroom will be to develop critical thinkers, students who are confident, and students who develop social skills to cooperate in and eventually lead a community of their own.
My Project
I am requesting books so that I can start to put together a classroom library for my students. The books range from classics such as Five Little Monkeys Jumping on the Bed to books about the alphabet. These starter sets of books will foster a love of reading for my students.
This project is extremely close to my heart.
I am a first year teacher through the nonprofit Teach for America. I truly want my students to believe that with hard work and grit they can accomplish anything. I will be holding my students to high standards as well as preparing them to face the challenges that life will throw at them.
