Help me give my students replenishment materials for a Wisconsin Fast Plants Project. This allows students to grow plants that are designed to complete the entire plant cycle in just 40 days.
Our school is a small, public middle school with a wonderfully diverse student population. Even the preteen students are able to recognize how combining different cultures enriches the learning experience.
Students are very motivated by being able to work cooperatively toward a common goal.
Our students are primarily low income and high energy. It is important for them to have engaging lessons that provide interesting ways of applying academic knowledge to practical situations. They love to learn new things and are eager to share.
My Project
I am asking for replenishment materials for a Wisconsin Fast Plants system created by the University of Wisconsin - Madison. These materials, in addition to the $600 worth of materials I already collected from last year, will offer students a valuable hands-on experience. The Wisconsin Fast Plants System is designed to complete the plant cycle in 40 days from seed to seed. This is a high-interest project that helps students see how plants grow and understand the role of plants in the ecosystem. There are several components to the project including extensive learning experiences about plant growth and development, irrigation systems, biomes and genetics.
