My students need wireless headphones to listen to stories without having to worry about getting all tangled up with the cords from the traditional headphones and a storage center to keep them organized.
I teach in a funded classroom with a limited yearly budget. This free program is granted by the Illinois State Board of Education to qualifying children and families living in Peoria County. Parents with babies and toddlers are offered parental support with home visits and small groups. The Pre-K classrooms are offered to three and four year olds in all school districts outside the city limits of Peoria. This countywide program is a Gold Circle of Quality program offering a quality program to prepare children for future school success and to prepare families for self-sufficiency.
Some of my students also have developmental delays, academic needs and have IEPs that I must maintain daily, weekly, and quarterly.
The students all come from diverse backgrounds but we learn to love one another and refer to our classroom as "a School Family". We learn to respect each other and celebrate the unique qualities of the individual.
My Project
Stories are a huge part of a typical day in any Preschool program. My students love to sit and listen to the stories on CD but the wires from the traditional headphones always seem to get tangled up. By having a wireless literacy station, there won’t be any issues with tangled or even broken headsets from the damaged cords 3-5 year olds can sometimes cause. We have picked out a nice wireless set from Lakeshore because their quality of supplies is the perfect compliment to any early childhood classroom. They definitely make items durable and able to handle the day to day use from young children.
The students would be able to move over on the couch or switch chairs with friends easily if their headphone are wireless instead of connected with a cord.
We also need an Easy-Reach Storage Center to store the CDs and headphones plus other items we have in our literacy center. This will help keep us more organized.
