Part of learning is making mistakes! As a Case Manager for a Chicago Public School, I run small groups for children who are "at-risk" for failure. The objective of these groups is to teach students the skills that they lack to access the general education curriculum. I need to find a different way to approach these students, a way that is appealing. By using dry erase sheets on the students' text book pages, we can underline, highlight, reword, mark all over the books to increase understanding yet retain the integrity of the book. Individual dry erase boards allow for group work and the ability to check for individual understanding in a fun way. Dry erase material, whether sheets or boards, allows these students to "wipe away" mistakes. It also adds different modalities (kinesthetic and tactile) which increases student learning.
