Many of my students come backgrounds that are limited in their resources that will help satisfy their basic needs. More than 40% of my students are from low income families, are ELL students, or receive Free or Reduced lunch. It is important for students to have quality nourishment that will help them sustain throughout the day and ensure that they are actively engaged in their learning experience.
With our Winter Wrap project we are hoping to send students home with snacks and food items in back packs and that will help keep them nourished.
Many of our scholars get a good meal at school but may miss meals while at home. Many of them view school as a safe haven and with lots of love, care, and compassion the school doors open, we greet our scholars and assist them with their social, emotional and hunger needs. As a Titan family we embrace scholars, parents, and all stakeholders as we set out on our journey to create Smart, Happy, and Connected students.
My Project
Many of our students miss meals while at home and away from school. With this project, our students will know that they will have some food while at home when school is out. This project will satisfy the natural need for food in our students and their families.
It is tough for students to learn and study if they have not had any real nutrition at home.
The majority of my students can benefit from backpacks of food to take home, because they often come to school hungry. Providing them with food will set them up for success and build a positive community in which sharing and caring is the norm.
