Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students attend a Title I community school in the southwest where students are valued and celebrated in every classroom, but once they step out of the safe boundaries of the school, they are often underrepresented in society because of their demographics.
One hundred percent of my students qualify for free breakfast and lunch, and 100% of them have great potential!
My students come to school daily where they are fed through words and nutrients and loved.
My Project
My group of first graders are simply amazing! Several of my precious first graders did not attend kindergarten because their families were in survival mode due to the pandemic.
Despite this, these students are making great strides in reading, writing, and math by working hard and taking responsibility for their school work with perseverance!
To aid them in their educational journey, they need additional materials like dry erase markers to use on math write boards to improve their adding and number bond skills. Another wish list item is a double-wide teaching easel with rollers to aid in whole group writing and spelling activities, as well as, colorful motivational stickers for a job well-done!
