Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are amazing eleven- to thirteen-year-olds who spend their time in class pushing the limits of their brains. They are not predisposed to education coming first. Typically, they are the first to graduate high school in their family. They almost all qualify for free or reduced-price lunch, and some of them are the family caregiver for the majority of the day, but they still come to school and give it their best.
But, the goal is that someday in the not-so-far-off future, they will go to college, and even though that may be six years from now, it's never too soon to start practicing and honing in on academic abilities.
My Project
My project's requested materials will let students know they are safe from viruses while at school (because of the sanitizing wipes, hand towels, and spray) but that they can also be engaged and feel at home through artistic use of the permanent markers, fine tip markers, and colored paper.
In my class, we always pay attention to detail and make having fun while learning safely a priority!
The requested materials help us stay safe from cold and flu viruses that are out there. The variety of markers and paper (along with the desk calendar) also allows for outside-of-the-box learning and fun ways to create representations of stories we read in class.
