Help me give my students snacks and hygiene items to help with good hygiene and wellness this winter. The hygiene items will be packed and available for students in their restrooms, insuring access without embarrassment.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
GPA is a K-6 Dual Language Elementary housed within IPS. Our school was created through the Innovation School partnership with IPS. The mission of GPA K-6 is to provide tomorrow’s leaders and global citizens with the highest quality of instruction through language immersion and experiential learning that is culturally relevant. In a highly engaging and nurturing environment, native English speakers and native Spanish speakers will learn to speak, read, and write proficiently in both languages. We serve over 600 students in grades Pre-K to 6.
My Project
I am the School Counselor housed in our Student Center, a trauma sensitive resource room combined with student discipline. All of the items requested will contribute to the school's sense of wellness this Winter, and maintain efforts already underway. All educators know that supplemental snacks are always important to provide to children, especially those who are food insecure, or come from unstable environments.
We will place care packages in student restrooms, where they can access basic hygiene products without having to ask anyone.
Being able to give students the basics; soap and lotion, toothbrushes and paste - will increase their sense of stability and self esteem, decrease any stigma they could feel due to lacking these items and help students feel more prepared for learning.
As a trauma informed school, supplying snacks and basic hygiene items for our students to use without forcing the student to explain why they have specific needs is a small but invaluable support some may not otherwise have.
