Music and Art are shared subjects in Caswell County. I am the music teacher shared by North & Oakwood Elementary Schools. This year music will be taught from August to mid January at Oakwood while Art is being taught at North. In the middle of January the schools reversed. The grades I teach are Pre-K through 5th. Each year the children in the Kindergarten through 5th grades perform a winter and spring concert at the Caswell County Civic Center. This year's winter concert will be "Winter Weather". Music K-8 Magazines 2004-2005 contain many great songs in the categories of music theory/notation/rhythms and movement for use in the classroom as a teaching tool as well as concert material. Music K-8 Magazines are an excellent resource for elementary and middle school music teachers. Many of the pieces for my prior concerts came from Music K-8 issues. They are a wonderful supplement to music textbooks. Issues contain newly composed songs, new arrangements of old songs, as well as Boomwhacker and recorder pieces and articles. The county has purchased the Music K-8 for 2005-2006 and 2006-2007 and I brought along with me 1998-2004 when I moved from New York to North Carolina. The reason Caswell did not purchase 2004-1005 magazines was because they purchased much-needed Orff instruments. I'm asking DonorsChoose to please purchase the 2004-2005 K-8 magazines with CDs for my schools. I would love to incorporate some of the winter songs into this year's program. Thank you.
