Help me give my students cleaning supplies like Lysol wipes, Lysol disinfectant spray, and Kleenex in order to brace ourselves for cold and flu season.
My school district is one of the most diverse districts in the state of Missouri. We provide rigorous academics, dedicated teachers, and a safe learning environment for students of many different backgrounds, cultures, and socioeconomic levels; throughout the day, I get to touch the lives of 100 of these students.
I teach in a Title I school where nearly all of my students receive free/reduced-price lunch, and need additional resources to be successful.
Because of this, I incorporate a variety of learning strategies, group work, and alternative seating options to ensure that each student's needs are met, right where they are.
Many of our students experience trauma, some experience homelessness. Despite these trials, my students come to school each day ready to learn and start fresh. I strive to provide a safe, comfortable, homey learning environment for all my students, regardless of need or ability. By doing so, I hope to inspire the students to come to school each day and make their day in science class the “best day ever”.
My Project
As the cold weather is quickly approaching, cold & and flu is soon to follow! Help us brace ourselves for the germs associated with the winter months.
By bringing cleaning supplies into our classroom, it will help keep our students happy and healthy.
Through doing so, we will protect ourselves against many different viruses and bacteria. (Science class is for learning about germs, viruses, and bacteria--not getting them first hand!)
Having a clean classroom could also potentially help student attendance, as the students' exposure to germs will be limited. We will be able to spray and wipe down our lab tables regularly and keep the germs at bay!
