Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

August 2021 was the first time that many of my students stepped foot in a classroom since March of 2020. My students have worked hard during the pandemic to achieve success in all aspects of learning.

I teach 19 wonderful children.

The children in my classroom strive for excellence in their learning, not only in academics but in themselves as well.

I teach at a low-income school in Missouri. Students do not let their socioeconomic status impact their ability to learn.

Despite so many hardships, my students are eager to learn and do their best. They want to be in school because they want to learn all they can so they can be successful one day. I know that in years to come, my students will be doctors, lawyers, artists, hairstylists, and strive to never give up!

My Project

St. Louis has harsh winters. Many students come to school with chapped lips and dry hands, which can become seemingly uncomfortable. I have created a project that will get basic essential items, such as lotion, chapstick, and wipes in their hands as soon as possible.

My students deserve to feel comfortable in the classroom.

By having the lip balm and lotion readily available to them, they can feel comfortable coming to class and getting items that will relieve the feeling of chapped lips and dry hands. I am happy that I can provide a secure space for them to continue their learning and not feel shameful for asking for basic needs.
