Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

"It is not more bigness that should be our goal. We must attempt, rather, to bring people back to the warmth of community, to the worth of individual effort and responsibility...and of individuals working together as a community, to better their lives and their children's future." -Robert F. Kennedy

Our school system is focused on our children, our community, and our future.

We strive to provide an outstanding curriculum, superb faculty and staff, award-winning programs, dedicated athletic and academic teams, and a vibrant community that supports the school system.

Established in 1897, ours is the oldest public school district in the state. Located just east of Tulsa near Fort Gibson Lake, the rural district serves around 2,500 students. Our district consists of six sites: 3 elementary, 1 intermediate, 1 middle school, and 1 high school.

It is our mission to create an environment in which students can acquire the skills and develop the attitudes necessary to become lifelong learners and productive, responsible citizens.

We strive to provide the best possible academic, vocational, recreational, social, and participatory skills, enabling students to become valued and contributing members of a changing global society.

My Project

We are excited to have launched our high school bass fishing team! Since the majority of our students are on the free and reduced-price lunch plans, funding this project will allow students access to the equipment and generate the ability to learn new techniques as they participate in local and state tournaments.

This project will help us outfit our team with new custom made Mosley rods!

This rod, Mosley RodWorks 7' Heavy, allowed FLW fisherman Brandon Mosley to win the Okie BFL at Ft. Gibson Lake, our home lake, in 2010.

This equipment will be also used by many of our outdoor education students at our school's on campus "practice" pond to learn new fishing techniques. Our students will also be encouraged to enter local fishing tournaments, an opportunity for students to compete in "non-traditional" sporting events.

We can now offer unique experiences that our students couldn't have possibly afforded to participate in.

There is abundance of local public lakes in which our students are becoming familiar with. It is hoped that this fishing program/team will allow our students the motivation to help actually feed their families and promote water sports. Economic hardships shouldn't stifle an already depressed generation of students.
