This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach at a low-income school in Mississippi. Students come to me with a variety of needs, both academic and social-emotional. They are always eager to learn. All of our students receive free lunch. My school is currently a C-rated school, but we are striving to become a B-rated school.
They are the shining stars who brave through some pretty tough home lives in order to excel in a safe, fun, engaging learning environment.
My hope is to provide my students with a colorful, warm classroom that is not only inviting but purposeful.
My Project
By donating to my project, you will be helping to give my students an abundance of resources! My students would enjoy a science journal with experiments. The experiments will give my students hands-on activities and allow them to fully process the lesson being taught. My district does not have a science book, so the visual with the experiments will help tremendously.
We do not have textbooks in our district, so the ability to link with other well-rounded teachers around the world for resources is amazing.
My students are mostly visual learners and need additional resources like the Grammar Bundle to aid in different concepts. Students being able to play games while learning (like Adjective Detective) will allow to them to move around and have fun while learning about adjectives. I have some students who struggle with reading and comprehending what they read. The Emergent Readers Bundles will benefit those students who struggle to read on level.
Teachers Pay Teachers not only benefits myself and my 30 students, but the teachers that are posting their lessons and activities for us to share with each other.
