My students need books that will provide a window to see the world around them in a different lens.
In addition, we are participating in Global Read Aloud and need copies of the book.
My students are from an area of diversity. They are constantly exposed to a variety of backgrounds and are able to learn from each other and the community. They work together and will spend the year collaborating with one another to make an impact on the world around them.
This group of students is forever impressing me with their creativity and willingness to try something new.
They are ready to experience a new world as we explore through reading. I know my students will make a difference!
My Project
The books within this project are ones that will open the eyes of my students by providing opportunities to see the world as it is experienced by other groups of people. While we live in a diverse area, my students often misinterpret the classmates sitting next to them.
Books are able to provide both mirrors and windows, and in this case, I'm hoping to provide both.
These books will be provided to the students for independent reading, but also as part of the Global Read Aloud. Both Refugee and Amal Unbound will allow us to make connections with other classrooms on a global scale through the GRA participation.
