Help me give my students these shades to protect them in the case of a lock down or safety concern as well as shield them from the brightly shinning sun in their eyes.
I have worked in the same school district for the past 24 years. I am always amazed at the unbelievable students I am blessed with every year. Many of my students come from inner-city, low-income families who often have difficulty purchasing the bare necessities for success. Although they face many obstacles on a daily basis, they still come to school every day with a desire to learn. New technology excites them and motivates them to excel. I try to give them as much as I can. Unfortunately, our budget/funding supply has been reduced again this year. I try to do everything I can to make sure that my students have the necessary tools for success, but at times it is quite a large burden to bear.
People often look at me and tell me that I am crazy for teaching middle school, but there is nowhere else I would rather be and no age group that I would rather teach.
I love them! My students are always eager to try new things and connect what we are learning to the real world.
My Project
My current science classroom is on the ground floor of the sunny side of the building. During the afternoon classes the sun is often brightly shinning through the windows and blinding the students as the are trying to learn and do their work. Although I have made curtains for the windows, they do not adequately block the sun.
A much more important reason that I need these shades for much classroom is for the protection and safety of my students.
If we encounter a situation that requires us to go into lock down or something similar, I have no way to shield my students from someone wishing to do harm who could be right outside our windows/building. Please help me to get these simple shades so that I can both protect my students and help them focus during bright, sunny days!
