My students need materials for a Lego Wall, several items for our STEM area including Brain Flakes, Goldie Blox, Tumble Trax, Sphero, and OSMO & Play-Doh Touch Studio to use with our iPad mini's.
My students are growing, learning and making lifelong friends in a small community with a great little school. They are dreamers, thinkers, talkers, questioners and hard workers. They come into the room each morning with excitement on their faces and eager to learn new innovative things.
Our Pre-K through 12 school has an average class size of 12.
This community is comprised mainly of farmers and ranchers. Our location is very secluded. We have very few academic resources available. Traveling is required for day-to-day needs such as groceries, gas, clothing, and so on.
Students are faced with many challenges each day. The majority of the students come from poverty and/or single parent homes. Although this is a low socioeconomic community, it is very family oriented and close-knit. We feel that our students deserve the same quality education and resources needed to maximize learning as students at other schools that are not faced with the same economic challenges.
My Project
We would like to have a Lego Wall materials to add to our STEM area in our classroom where there are several activities for daily projects and usage. Goldie Blox, Tumble Trax, and VIAHART Brain Flakes will encourage more "out-of the box" thinking. The Sphero Robot Ball and the Code & Go Robot Mouse will will be added to our STEM area for a robotics element. Adding to our iPad minis capabilities are the Play-Doh Touch Shape to Life Studio and the OSMO Genius Kit.
Preparing our girls and boys for a world full of new technology is a big part of their early school career that connects to STEM.
We welcome these STEM resources to give us the opportunity to have more challenging science skills and "hands-on" activities for our students.
