As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, I am looking to keep things simple and provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences. My students need all the educational opportunities they can get. In the current times, children are attracted to digital learning and resources.
Every minute counts with my students!
I want to use any and all resources that I can use to help my students become ready to learn.
My Project
In today's world, some children are exposed to so much technology outside of the classroom; however, some do not have the privilege of technology at their fingertips. Having only a few computers in the classroom doesn't allow all students to explore the fun world of learning through technology like they so deserve.
My students need these Fire Tablets to give them a better opportunity to use technology for a fun and creative way to practice fluency, explore deeper math concepts, and play fun math games to increase their interest in problem solving.
These tables will give me, the teacher, more opportunities to work one on one with more students while others are using the tablets.
During center rotations, I am working with students in small group to develop their math concepts. During that time, students often finish early in other areas and could use the tablets for a fun early finisher that is still developing their math skills. I also plan to allow students to research skills they may be struggling with. This creates a sense of self responsibility to allow them to be in control of their learning goals.
Students are very engaged in technology, and my goals are to keep them engaged during math class using our new Fire HD Tablets. The kid-proof cases are an added bonus for safety of our new friends. :)
