Help me give my students a one-of-a kind adventure by supporting the trip to Magnolia Plantation in Charleston, South Carolina. Students will have the opportunity to engage in first hand experiences directly related to classroom curriculum.

My Students

Creative, destined for greatness, imaginative, kind, sarcastic, humorous - those are just a few words to describe my students...aka, my kids. We are a group of 5th graders who learn through project based and hands-on activities.

Creativity and innovation have helped engage my learners to become invested in their education.

My grade-level consists of forty-seven students of varying abilities. We are a close-knit community of learners who grow together. Our school is a charter school that consists of grades kindergarten through eleventh grade. All students in our school receive free lunch. Many of our students face challenges inside and outside of school that limit the experiences they have outside of their familiar community.

As a school, we are dedicated to focusing on and bringing out the best in our kids. In order to do this, we need support from you.

My Project

Giving students opportunities to experience hands-on activities related to content has a huge impact on their ability to retain and apply curriculum that teachers teach in the classroom. My partner teacher and I have intentionally planned supplemental activities that coincide with required state curriculum. We hope to solidify understanding of Science and Social Studies content.

Our end of the year adventure to Magnolia Plantation will allow our kids to take a Rice Field Boat Tour, a Nature Train Tour, and a From Slavery to Freedom tour to experience what life was like on a 19th century plantation.

History is still alive today. This trip will give our kids a chance to slip into history and experience a one-of-a-kind opportunity. Your support will help us make this stop on our field trip a possibility.
