My students need wii's to learn that there is healthy technology as opposed to the old ways of playing video games which lend themselves to a sedentary lifestyle.
Do you remember the technology you had in school growing up? Was it a word processor? an early model computer? Today we need to stay ahead of the curve of technology and embrace it or it will leave us behind.
My students face many challenges living in an urban New York community where many children can not go outside after school to play sports at the local park.
Our school has no grass fields to learn how to properly play soccer or to see how a ground ball in a baseball game plays on turf.
We are asking for these Wii's so that our students will be able to learn how to play a varied amount of sports without leaving the school. Let the world of video games sweep them away to the likes of Chicago's Wrigley Field or England's Wembley stadium. Many of these children will never have the opportunity to visit these many places.
My project is so important to these children because they don't move nearly enough.
They live sedentary lifestyles and many have never played organized sports. This project will give them that chance. It will allow them to be able to go to all ends of the world to see things they wouldn't otherwise get to see.
