My school is a Title 1 school where many students come from low income households. I strive to make my classroom a comfortable, enjoying space where all learners can be successful. My students are also expected to meet rigorous New York State common core learning standards. Although they are in their first year of middle school, they are still young kids and have trouble sitting still for long periods of time.
I love my student's creativity and love for learning.
They are at a amazing age where they are independent yet still look to adults for guidance. I love that they work hard each day in order to navigate all of the challenges thrown at them. I believe that this resource will help them to be even more successful within my classroom!
My Project
My students are entering their first year of middle school where they will be asked to think deeply and work hard each day. My students have a variety of different abilities but they all have one thing in common, they work much better when they are allowed options about where they sit within my classroom. Gone are the days where they all sit in regular desks and chairs. My cherubs work best when they are allowed to use wiggle stools, standup desks, and sit on the rug to complete their work. I currently have 1 wiggle stool and they rush into class and beg to use it. It amazing the difference it makes for many of the students. Suddenly with a little movement they are able to complete their work with much less difficulty.
