This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I get the pleasure of teaching 26 of the most inquisitive, enthusiastic, energetic and hard-working kiddos around. Most of my students started this year in school barely knowing how to count, hold a pencil or even speak English and now they are writing paragraphs, adding and subtracting and reading like rockstars! My kiddos have worked hard this year to develop a growth mindset which means that they never give up, even when things get tricky! They can’t do that YET!

My Project

Kids need to move, especially the littlest learners in kindergarten! Ball chairs are a great way to allow kids to “actively sit”. The constant ball movement will keep the body active and the mind engaged and work to increase blood flow to the brain, leading to better focus and concentration all the while helping to shake out the wiggles, work out those funny bones and reduce (some) distractions. My kiddos will be able to wiggle to their heart’s desire while being the scholars I know that they are! Sitting on a ball in kindergarten? What could be better! I can’t think of much!
