Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students come from a variety of different backgrounds, and many of them speak English as their second language. I currently work in a Title 1 school, which means that many of my students face daily challenges such as living in transitional housing and have the inability to supply their own learning materials.
I'm a strong believer in teaching my students to be self-motivated and to preserver through their everyday challenges.
I always like to say, "when we make mistakes, we fix them!".
My Project
Having flexible seating options in my classroom will help my students to redirect their energy, yet still allow them to stay focused and pay attention. Any person who has to sit for most of the day usually has to get up and move their bodies. I've noticed my students standing up and complaining that they are uncomfortable.
Flexible seating will help my classroom function better.
These seats are small and can be easily moved throughout the room to assist both students at their seats and throughout the day. Also, they can be arranged near me during small group sessions. By receiving flexible seating the students have options to sit in multiple locations throughout the room, Many of the chairs that are provided to the students are broken and old, and these materials are exactly what I need to make the environment more comfortable.
