Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach an amazing group of students with different abilities. My classroom is a moderate/severe special day class and the students are in the 4th-6th grade. This project will actually benefit all three special education classes at my school and will provide materials to help over 30 students. Each day my students come to school, they overcome challenges that most of us do not even think about. Although my students have very different needs, they work extremely hard and will light up the room every time they walk in. Everything in my classroom is adapted and modified to help my students do the best that they can each and every day.
My Project
My kids need a variety of sensory toys and equipment to help them calm down and get their wiggles out. A lot of my students have Autism and are able to focus a lot more and work better if they have frequent sensory breaks.
The students will be able to do things like bounce on exercise balls, Spin around on discs, swing on sensory swings, or put themselves in body socks to help them relax when they are over stimulated.
Students will be able to take breaks throughout the day and use all of this equipment in order to help them be more ready to focus and succeed in the classroom.
