Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

The school I teach at is a Title 1 school and 100% of students receive free/reduced lunch. The 16 students I have in my class are wonderful! Despite what adversities they may be facing at home, they come to school eager to learn.

There are both general education students as well as special education students in my class, with a variety of learning needs.

Some of those learning needs include standing, wiggling, or moving around as they work. The traditional seating I currently have is not accommodating all of my students.

My Project

I currently do not have any flexible seating in my classroom. By adding various seating options in my classroom, my students with special learning needs will have more opportunities to be successful. If funded, the flexible seating will be used not just for my current students, but for students that I will have in the years to come.

Students can get their wiggles out while they work!

The exercise ball chairs are great for bouncing and movement. The cushions will be used for a table I have lowered to the ground so students can be more comfortable there. Finally, the stools will give students seating choices other than the traditional Kindergarten seats.
