My Students
Who are my students? What makes them special? What makes them tick?
My students are an amazing group of teenagers who attend a school for students with severe emotional impairments.
Listening to their stories, where they have been and what they have encountered in their short lives would make most people cry. As educators we strive to fill the gaps in our students' learning from time missed from school due to their disabilities. More than that, we also provide the foundation to see past their past and look towards a future with hope. Our mission is to engage, empower, and inspire each and every one of our students.
My Project
A ball chair in a delightful green color will provide an alternative seating option for my students. This chair is fantastic to help strengthen core muscles, which also assists in strengthening focus. I notice in my students as the day wears on that the traditional plastic school chair creates more distractions. Students get up to pace more, need more reminders to get back on task, and the overall quality of work declines. By providing a seat that allows their body to work, it will also allow their minds to stay more focused. This then will also allow them to see more success in the academics.
