Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach at a Title One School. My First-Grade Bilingual students come from a low-income/high-poverty area.
My First Graders arrive each morning looking to find an environment that draws out their thirst for learning and provides an atmosphere that supports and develops their learning needs.
As an educator, I have a passion to let each child know that they are accepted into our learning environment. I research countless ways to improve our daily learning habits. Students need a classroom equipped to handle multiple styles of knowledge acquisition. My students want the ability to express their learning with movement. All students need to have educators around them that have an immense interest to draw out what their best learning styles are and promote positive avenues to create success. My students need to feel the freedom of acceptance for who they are and who they will one day become!
My Project
We all learn in different ways! I hope that my first-grade bilingual students know that I am trying to do the very best I can to provide avenues of learning that encourage and build positivity in their journey towards success! The novelty behind providing exciting ways to learn sparks more determination in each child to attend school daily and become engaged in learning.
I have students that need to move while learning new concepts in the classroom.
They demonstrate many traits of kinesthetic learners. I can already imagine the great benefit from using the Wobble Chairs during lessons. These chairs will help my students focus on their math and reading assignments, promoting a more efficient use of their time. A great compliment to flexible seating in my class would also be the portable lap desks. I can see my students using the lap desks as an alternative to sitting in regular chairs and tables. Lastly, my students requested a bean bag to place in our class library to provide a more comfortable reading station.
I know my students will be excited to know that their community, the donors of this project, are encouraging and helping to develop life-long skills. Please help us fund this project. The Kore Wobble Chairs, the Surf Lap Desks and the ECR4 Bean Bag will provide flexible seating opportunities in the classroom to help my students find ways to calm any anxieties they may have about learning.
