My students enter my classroom each day with an amazing zest for learning! Their creative minds are always devising new and interesting innovations. They are often motivated by a curiosity about their peers and their world, which prompt unique and enthusiastic experiences. They are quick to help those in need and to encourage the strengths of those around them.
My students are a wonderful mix of spirit, humor and heart!
They have talents and skills that they don't even realize yet. They come from diverse ethnic, cultural and socio-economic backgrounds, but together, we are a team - a team focused on working together to promote all.
My Project
Flexible seating options can stimulate sensory input and help students stay engaged in class. By way of wobble chairs and wobble cushions, students make choices for themselves on how best they can learn. With more and more expected from students each year, it is vital that they maintain focus to learn new concepts. When students' bodies are allowed to move, their minds can remain engaged with the task at hand. Student movement can increase oxygen flow to the brain, burn calories, and use up extra energy.
Flexible seating can help focus bodies and minds, while "Word of Mouse" can stir hearts.
Our class could also use copies of the book, "Word of Mouse", to help students explore such literary themes as friendship, family, resourcefulness and courage. One of its strongest messages helps students focus more on what we all have in common, not our differences. As its author, James Patterson, writes in this tome,
