My students need a set of 12 bouncy bands that can be shared at desks throughout our classrooms. These bouncy bands will allow students to get excess energy or anxiety out while still producing work.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My classroom is located in a large district in Southern California. 90% of students at my school receive free/reduced meals. Many students come to school with challenges that make learning difficult, however it doesn't stop their love of learning. My students enjoy being in my classroom as I nurture them into responsible, caring citizens of the world!
My fourth grade scholars are enthusiastic learners who like to move about while sitting at their desk.
Sometimes this movement can distract the learning of others around them. They really enjoy having bouncy bands connected to the legs of their desks. These heavy bands allow the students feet to move in the space of their own desk.
My Project
These Bouncy bands will help more students be able to relieve excess energy or anxiety by simply bouncing or moving their feet on the bands attached to the legs of their desks. We currently have 8 sets of bands in our classroom. We would like to the additional sets so more students benefit. We have seen the calm they bring to fidgety feet. The bouncy bands allow movement without distraction to those surrounding desks. We have found that all students benefit from having these attached to their desks, not just a few overly active students. We hope that one day all 34 members of our class will have the ability to use a Bouncy Band at their desk!!
