My Students
I am a fifth-grade Special Education teacher in Buffalo, New York. I love working in the city of Buffalo and want the best for all of my students. Many of students come from a variety of different backgrounds with over 80% of our students receiving free lunch. My students are eager to learn and explore the world.
The students in my classroom all have different learning abilities.
I have both General Education and Special Education children in my classroom, which makes our learning environment very diverse. Regardless of their academic level, they are love to learn.
My Project
There are many resources that can help students become more engaged and stay focused for longer periods of time throughout the learning day. By having alternative seating, like the wobble cushion or exercise ball, in the classroom students are able to make a decision for themselves. This allows them to make a choice of which seating arrangement is best for their learning. Letting my students make their own choice, I am helping them learn how to make appropriate choices to become more successful in the classroom. This also helps reduce the amount of behavior problems that can happen in the classroom. By having alternative seating students have their own space to spread out and have room to work. Having alternative seating also helps with engagement. By having higher engagement students will be more successful.
Having the squeezable stress balls, the spiky sensory rings, as well as the Fidgeteez Chair Bands will help my students make less distractions to others while staying focused themselves.
These items will allow my students who struggle to stay focused and release their unwanted energy without causing a distraction to other students.
