My students need special seating cushions to help them focus.
Let's work on our stamina! I always encourage my students to focus on their reading books during independent reading. How can 5 and 6 year Old's focus when they have been sitting on a hard chair all day?
I have 26 diverse first graders.
I teach first grade at a Title 1 school here in California. My students are at various levels in terms of reading. I have students learning letter sounds and others reading at a second grade level. I am hoping to provide a source of comfort for my students as they build their stamina in reading.
It is often a challenge for teachers to keep our students engaged in school work. Some students have attention issues. They require stimulation constantly. The cushion seats will provide stimulation so that these particular students can focus on classwork. The pillows will serve as an incentive for reading. These would be given as a reward to students that can focus and push themselves while reading independently.
Stimulation is so important for young children.
In education we are always competing with the vibrant colors and graphics of video games to reading great books. I would love to provide a comfortable stimulating environment for my students. This will entice them to read in a pleasant environment.
