My students come from diverse backgrounds. I have students that come from well educated parents to single family homes to children in foster care. My students range in exposure to a well saturated educational environments at home, but these same students share the quality of high performing. These students are leaders and have a thirst for more knowledge. They are creative and intuitive with bright minds. Their since of wonder is inspiring to all of us that have the pleasure of teaching them.
My Project
My little firsties like to move. But I can’t blame them, they are 6 and 7 year olds. I want to create a safe environment for them to be able to wiggle those legs, wobble on a safe seat, focus that energy and lessen the environmental noise to help with concentration.
My plan is to have flexible seating, bouncy bands for feet, and chair caps to allow my students to release all that 6 year old energy while being engaged during instructional activities.
Students are being pushed to a higher rigor and require more concentration during the school day. With more instructional time being a high priority and recess being a less of one, it’s important for students to still move in a safe environment.
