Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Nestled in the hills of North San Diego County is a small public charter school with a diverse population of students. Students from a variety of ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds gather every day in multi-grade classrooms to grow their minds. Among them is my class of enthusiastic first, second, and third grade students.
Learning is an adventure my students can not wait to go on.
Every day they get to be authors, illustrators, mathematicians, scientists, and explorers. They boldly meet all of the challenges, both academic and social, that the day brings them. School is their new frontier and they intend to conquer!
My Project
No one likes to sit on a hardwood chair all day- especially first, second, and third graders. They need seating that is comfortable and that allows them the opportunity to wiggle while they work.
Classrooms should be inviting and comfortable- a space where children want to spend their day and learn.
The balance ball chairs and wobble stools will help me create this type of classroom environment. I expect that my students will be excited to take a seat and create work that shows what they have learned with these seating options in the classroom. The ability to wobble, bounce, and wiggle while they are seated will increase their ability to concentrate and produce their best work.
