Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our mascot is the dolphin. Like dolphins, we believe our students are talented, cooperative, and fun-loving. Eighty percent of our student population is considered socioeconomically disadvantaged; however, our students refuse to let that stop them from reaching their full academic potential.
Our students helped our school become a Kindness Certified School, a trait you can observe the moment you walk onto our campus.
We highly value character education and treating others with respect.
I work with our school's students receiving special education services with classifications ranging from autism to emotional impairment. My students exemplify our school's values and are integral members of our school community.
My Project
Many of my students have a physical need to move and wiggle while they are learning. Doing so helps them regulate and allows their brain to focus on the task at hand. Typical seating arrangements do not always work for my students.
Help us accommodate our students' need to move!
Wobble chairs will allow my students to stay at their desk and learn while also giving them movement their body and mind needs. Wobble cushions are discreet tools that our students can use that do not draw a lot of attention. For students who sometimes get overwhelmed, beanbag chairs allow for breaks. Bouncy bands will allow our students with active feet to release some energy
