My Students
During the elementary years, children spend the majority of their day in their classroom. With this in mind, it is crucial for the classroom environment to be comfortable and flexible in order to adapt for various learning needs. My students are individuals and our classroom is a space that should reflect and encourage uniqueness each year.
In my first grade classroom, it is my intention to foster a love of learning for all of my students by offering opportunities for engagement, collaboration, and success!
First graders in my school are inquisitive, compassionate, and ambitious. Reading, writing, and math expectations are best supported by strong interactions with peers. Students work with their peers to challenge one another with thoughtful questions and prompts to deepen thinking about various concepts and to build relationships. First graders would benefit from a classroom environment that allows for them to use the whole space throughout their day.
My Project
My classroom needs flexible seating options for students to move throughout the environment and make choices. In first grade, academic rigor begins to increase and children will spend considerably more time sitting to write, meeting in small groups, and collaborating with peer partners throughout their day. Some students learn best sitting in a traditional chair at a table, but many students prefer options for moving throughout the space to continue their work.
It is essential that children are provided the opportunity to be comfortable in their learning space in order to support their development.
Flexible seating options like these floor seats and wobble chair, will support my students to recognize what their bodies need in order to continue learning and growing. This will allow children to utilize the entirety of the classroom for their learning. Students will benefit from your support of these materials for years to come!
