My Students

Being a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students face many academic and social challenges. Even though they face these challenges, I have a passion to help them find a love for learning. Close to half of my students perform below grade level in reading and most of my students would say they are not a "good reader". We are starting a new initiative to try and improve students' readiness levels in reading, and I will be working with students to improve their ability to read. I need support to be successful in my efforts.

My Project

Some of my students struggle with staying focused. These wobble stools will give my students a way to have movement while focusing on the tasks in our small group instruction. It is important for my students to focus during our small group instruction because this is when we focus on tasks that need intervention.

The wobble stools will allow them to get the wiggles out while completing tasks that focus on small group interventions.

These stools have the potential to increase engagement, focus, motivation, and enjoyment of learning. I've used bumpy seats in the past and have seen a noticeable difference in my students' attention. The these stools will enable my students to try something out to help satisfy their need for movement.
