Many of my students come from a low-income background with an eagerness to learn and have fun while learning. I have 26 students in my class.
I have been fortunate to be the team room the past 3 years where special education students are able to be in a general education classroom for most of the day.
My students are amazing and come to school ready to learn new things, surround themselves with amazing friendships and are so incredibly accepting and supportive of each other.
My Project
My students rarely sit in their desks. They prefer laying on the floor with clipboards, sitting on wooden stools, getting on their knees and working on an upcycled coffee table and sitting on rugs. The reason for this is because they are 6-7 years old who need space and need to be able to wiggle. Sitting at a desk with a hard chair is not an ideal way for any of us to learn. Therefore, I’d like to give my students some more options for seating starting with wobble chairs and cushions and soft seats. A 6 year old NEEDS to be moving in order to focus and get a task done. The more seating options I give, the more satisfied my students are and are willing to work.
