Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Most of my 20 students live in low-income housing or in multi-generation homes. They are so happy to be in school and no longer learning from home.
My students are in-class this year, wearing masks, learning social-distanced from each other and they are rocking it!
We have a class set of Kindle tablets that help us learn at our desks and help me get up close and personal through the use of QR Codes and recorded videos. Those QR Codes are a favorite activity, along with our infrequent Lego reward time with my 21 individual Lego kits. My classroom capacity is 21 students and my population grows as more and more students return to in-person learning from distance learning.
My Project
There are days we never leave the classroom and students don't leave their desks other than to go to the bathroom. We get as creative as we can by sitting on top of, under and next to their desks but the reality is, they need to move their bodies!
With an increase in tipping chairs because students are trying to get comfortable sitting in their chairs all day, I need a solution to help them safely get out the wiggles.
I have several exercise balls I've used in the past for students, but I don't have enough to make a large enough impact so I have not used them yet. With the addition of 3 more easily sanitized options, I can alternate them between students daily.
I've included one option I've never seen before, the wiggle chair feet. If those are amazing, I will ask for more. I have two specific, special-needs students in mind for those options.
