Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach kindergarten to 3rd grade students at an inner-city school. The school district is located in the heart of Camden in an underprivileged area. Since it is an area with high poverty rates, many of my students receive free or reduced-price lunch. Although every day they are faced with many challenges both in and out of their homes, they come to school eager to learn. These kids face many difficulties, including taking responsibilities beyond their ages, yet when they arrive at school, they are just like any kid, filled with a passion to learn more about the world.
My Project
It is hard for my students to sit for a very long school day because they have so much energy. The chairs in my classroom are uncomfortable, causing the students to have a tough time trying to stay focused and on tasks. The purpose of this project is for students to have access to flexible seating.
Flexible seating will allow the students to move during the school day while still learning.
It will benefit the students because it will enable the students to focus on their schoolwork. The students will feel more comfortable in the classroom so they can be creative.
