I work at an amazing elementary school, and each year around 30 little smiling faces walk into my classroom. I am faced with the task of keeping them engaged and excited about learning!
Kids like many different things about school!
Some are mathematicians, while others are voracious readers, or mad scientists! Many are enthusiastic and jump right into their learning, while others are quite and reserved. They are tall or not, shy or bubbly, risk-takers or cautious! Some need a little extra support, while others need that extra challenge. Whatever it is, I am here to help them along their journey!
Two years ago, I decided that my students needed some options in their seating choices. I watched colleagues switch their classrooms over to flexible seating with great success, so I decided I wanted to try it. I ordered some 18 inch Hokki Stools to kick things off, and found that they worked really well, and were loved by the kids!
I realize though that some varied heights of stools would fit the needs of my shorter stature kiddos!
They struggle to make the taller stool work for them. They have to lean the 18 inch stool over so much to put their feet on the ground that it looses the "wiggle" aspect. I would love to have all my students benefit from the this type of flexible seating in my room!
