This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students attend a Title I school in the Upstate region of South Carolina.
Each morning I am greeted by a classroom full of first-graders who are eager to learn.
They come from many different homes and backgrounds. I make every effort for each student to become a part of our class family so that he/she can leave their worries at home and focus on reading, math, critical thinking, art, music and the many other activities that occur in our classroom at school.
My Project
My first graders are a lively bunch. They are full of energy from the time the arrive at school until time to go home.
These Hokki Stools would give another seating option for students that are having trouble focusing due to their movement.
We have transition times in our day where we get to wiggle and move, but even with wiggle time built in, not all of my six and seven year olds are able to sit for the time frame that is needed. The stools would allow for a little bit of movement while still keeping the child in his/her space to be able to complete work.
