Back to Kindergarten! I am so excited to be teaching kindergarten again. For the last two years, I taught third grade. It was such an amazing experience, but being back with the kinders is where my heart is. These kiddos love school, teachers and making new friends.
My class this year is full of joy, kindness, excitement and the wiggles.
Each child wants to learn and make me proud of their learning. While this is a fact, so is the need to move!
Reading is one of our big goals, and, boy, do they try hard. I want to keep them excited with an area that fosters achievement, movement and personal space. Each day, they learn new words and grow so much in decoding and building comprehension. I want them to do this while also loving the space they are in and having the ability to be comfortable. My kids are truly amazing and hardworking, and they deserve the best reading environment.
My Project
Kindergarten is no longer all about naps! We work hard every day. We are reading, writing and doing arithmetic! My students are amazing and work hard to learn and meet expectations that are sky high. I am so proud of them.
These wiggle seats will allow my students to still be five or six years old while also growing to meet their own personal and school expectations and more.
Kindergarten is the grade of grace, amazement and the "holy molly." They blow my mind daily with their social, emotional and academic growth. I truly believe in how the environment will encourage or discourage student achievement.
My students benefit from the fun learning environment that I attempt to create daily. Initially, I want the chairs for our reading table, but I will also use them for math intervention, writing and individual instruction. The leveled sizes will help me meet specific OT needs.
By donating to my project, you will not only help my students be excited to join me at my "back table," but you will also help increase student attention and focus as well as academic achievement.
These seats will allow my students to wiggle while they learn. I love encouraging them to be great learners and always be their best selves. I think these seats will allow them to do both. Honestly, we all need to wiggle at times! This is especially true when we are reading a good book!
