My Students

My students come to me with a variety of needs that prevent them from being successful in a traditional classroom environment. These unique students require unique interventions.

Academic success starts with engaging and FUN content so students LOVE learning!

I want my students be successful in school throughout their academic careers. This starts with building a strong foundation where my students learn by bringing engaging activities and resources into their world.

Exceptional Student Education while teaching multiple grade levels at one time requires a variety of resources that are engaging to a wide variety of ages and skill levels.

My Project

This project is focused on increasing the opportunity for my students to move while they work. Students that struggle with in a traditional classroom require unique interventions. We have tried things like balance balls and spinning office chairs and I've seen a great improvement in my students' learning. I'd like to increase the opportunities for movement for my students in the future by offering them more choices.

Special learners think better when they can MOVE!

My students that have benefited from the few options I have for flexible seating this year have expressed how much it helps them think. Many students that struggle with attention and focus are able to engage at a much higher rate when their bodies can be in motion. Flexible seating allows an opportunity for these students to select from a variety of options that will best meet their needs. I have included a variety of seating options with this project including small cushions that can be used both in a chair and on the floor, chairs for the floor that offer back support, wobble stools, and balls for students to sit on. Having so many options allows my students to select the seating that works best for them and their learning.

These students are hard workers and have a strong desire to learn. I feel that allowing them the opportunity to have some options for seating will allow them not only an opportunity to get those wiggles out, but also to begin to analyze what works best from them and allow them to begin making decisions that will make them more independent learners.
