Wiggle While You Work!
My students need ball chairs so that they can move and concentrate!
I teach a very active group of 30 3rd graders! Of my 30 students, I have 20 very busy boys! They are amazing kids that need help staying focused. I teach in a school that is on the outskirts of Flint and many of my students are from Flint. My school is a Title I building as many of our students come from poverty.
My students are sweet, kind, and try very hard but need support in order to concentrate and focus!
Over half of my students came to 3rd grade reading below grade level and need help staying focused in order to learn!
These ball chairs will provide my students the opportunity to move more and therefore improve their levels of concentration! Movement has been shown to improve concentration and I have seen it work well with my students! Having ball chairs will give students the opportunity to have some flexibility in where they sit. This will help them learn to self-regulate - improving their skills in more ways than one!
Winters in Michigan are cold and often students cannot get outside even to go to recess or play after school!
With these exercise balls to sit on, students will be able to have a chance to wiggle while they work!
