I have been teaching for over 20 years. This year, I have 24 second graders who mean the world to me. They are all hard workers, but some of the challenges that are beyond their control prevent them achieving their learning goals.
My goal is to give my students the opportunity to choose a seating arrangement that best fits their learning style to get the most out of their day.
Being able to choose a non-traditional seat will help my students focus on the task at hand and listen with the appropriate movements needed to maximize their learning.
The items I am requesting include; Kore WOBBLE chairs, stay and play balance balls, inflatable stability wobble cushions, 3" cushions for seating on the floor.
My Project
My goal is to provide a variety of seating for my students so they can move and wiggle while they work.
Students should be given a chance to sit in the best place that meets their needs to enhance their learning throughout their day.
The different seating styles that I have chosen will allow them the opportunity to chose one that will let them be most productive.
I would lower 3 tables and provide comfortable cushions on the floor. I would have cushions on some seats for easy movement without the disruption. The Kore wobbly chairs and large balance balls will allow my kinesthetic learners to use their muscles along with their brains.
Very few students these days are your standard learners that sit, listen and do their work. Many benefit from the ability to move while they listen. The different styles of seating arrangements I have chosen will give all my students a chance to do their best and enjoy the process of learning.
