Mrs. Smith from Washington DC is requesting flexible seating through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
Help me give my students flexible seating to help them sit comfortably and wiggle while they work during Morning meeting and table top, small-group activities.

I have a special needs classroom of 12 students with developmental disabilities, Autism, health impairments and physical disabilities. My students are full of excitement about learning and new experiences. They need lots of sensory materials, hard books, manipulatives and enjoyable learning materials that adapt to their physical needs. The students have various interests, including, cars, animals, puzzles, nature, real-life dramatic play materials, balls, building with blocks, colors, etc.
I love their determination to be successful.
It is so rewarding teaching them confidence and independence and watching them emerge into kind, competent, amazing learners! We've had a lot of our materials damaged and missing over the past summer and are in need of a fresh start and lots of engaging materials to be successful!
Our students need extra "wiggle room" in order to be successful sitting through a range of activities. They can get distracted by sitting in traditional chairs and scoot them back and forth, fall out of them, and attempt to rock in them. We've found these clever seats designed without the backs for our students who are able to sit without support and can participate in a range of movements while remaining comfortable and focussed. We are excited to try these out for our Morning Meeting Routine and small group activities where students can be seated for five to seven minutes. We can't wait to ditch our old chairs and embrace a new flexible seating arrangement in our classroom.
