My Students

My scholars are some of the most hard working 6 and 7 year olds. Many come from homes with little support and coming to school is not only important for them, but it is the place that they have the opportunity to grow and shine.

I teach 1st graders, who cannot sit still in a chair all day (who are we kidding, neither can I).

The growth that I have seen this school year in my scholars is amazing, the came in as kindergarteners and have blossomed to amazing 1st graders with many reading and writing on a 2nd or 3rd grade level.

My Project

These 2 Hokki stools will help my scholars to wiggle and work. I teach active 1st graders who love to move but they are also required to complete their work. This year I introduced a variety of flexible seating options and found that student engagement and work quality increased as my scholars were able to choose their seats as well as move and work.

Personally, I cannot sit and work at a desk all day, I cannot expect my scholars to either!

Flexible seating is a new classroom rage because teachers have found that their students are more productive. Hokki stools would give my scholars more choices to wiggle and work.
