Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are a diverse mix of children. My school is a Title I campus where 88% of the students come from families that are economically disadvantaged. Many of my students have not been outside of Pasadena. The students have not had the opportunity to explore some of the exciting things in our area.
My students are hungry for adventure and benefit from hands-on activities to connect what they are learning to their life.
The students get so excited to experience new things. They are learning how to collaborate together and form book clubs. They do sometimes need movement to help them stay focused!
My Project
These materials will be used to help students stay on task. The bands will give them a quiet way to fidget and relieve anxiety and/or energy without distracting others. The timers will help students get back on task after taking a break. The timers will double to help build reading fluency as well.
Students need to be able to move around, but still have to complete their work.
These bands and fidgets will provide them an opportunity to wiggle and get back to work. The resources will help students spend more time on task while they relieve some of their movement needs.
